Practice Blog Post
My name is Hilliary Sanders and I was born and raised in Mobile, Alabama. My husband Brian and I have been married since 2004, and in 2010 welcomed our son Deigan. Deigan is the reason I am in college. It was always a goal of mine to be a college graduate but after high school, I started my first job as a teller at a local bank. With steady income came debt, which naturally had to be paid back. Therefore a job was required. At the time I felt I didn’t have the time to take on college courses. After the birth of Deigan, I found myself rocking his to sleep one night, and wondered to myself, “how do I have the time to maintain a full-time job, a household and the care for an infant?” It was clear at that point that if it is something you really want, then you will figure out a way to make it work. So here I am, in my 3rd year at South. Still with a full-time job, child and household to run.
I have always enjoyed children. For the past ten years I have taught Sunday School for my church and I thoroughly enjoy watching the children grow and learn. I consider myself to be creative and what better field than elementary education to express my ideas. I am also extremely organized, which I feel is greatly important when maintaining a classroom.
I am really excited for this chapter in my life, and very grateful for my support team who is always there backing me up with each step!
